May/June 2023 - This place is now closed for renovations and will be ready probably in 2025. For a lot of people, this place brings back a lot of nostalgic memories, where swimming as a sport, brought the community together, not forgetting the various swim clubs from waterpolo to diving, to underwater hockey, and lifesaving training!
It was a place where time stood still for a long while, in a country so used to giving up its architectural heritage in the name of progress. Alas, progress has caught up and while there is probably no shortage of eager anticipation for its rejuvenation to be completed in the near future, an era is gone forever!
- S$1.7 for adult on weekends
- The changing rooms are small, dirty and smelly.
- Water pool is clean.
- There are 3 types of pool: competition, training and diving.
Opened in 1970, it's one of the oldest public swimming pool in existence. It comprises of a 50 metres competition pool, 1children pool, 2 toddler pool and a 10 metres diving pool. It is also home of the famous Queenstown water polo club where it produces many Asian Games Champion. Next to the swimming complex, there is a running track and football pitch.
Great swimming pool. Clean and well attended. Everyone was helpful. As others have said, the changing rooms are a bit dated but really, what do you expect for $1.30. Who can spend money on facilities in this climate. Easy booking system. Had lane to myself.
Nested in an increasingly upmarket Queenstown neighbourhood is this quaint fully equipped swimming pool - a throw back to the 1970s feel .. totally airy
and laid back .. together with the old HDB estate that surrounds this pool, it takes me back to simpler times of our developing nation.
Spent a peaceful weekday morning at the pool .. if only we could retain a small piece of this history ..
This nostalgic pool retains its 1980s/1990s look and it's just a 5 minutes walk from Queenstown MRT. The competition pool here is different from the pools in other swimming complex as there are 9 lanes and the two ends are 1.2m and 1.5m deep. (Most other pools have 8 lanes and both ends are 1.2m deep.) The water level is also a foot lower than the edge, necessitating the use of the ladder or very strong arms to get out.
Many pools available here, to facilitate child to adult.
Friendly coaches available to train kids.
Nice place to enjoy swimming.
Some may say the facility is dated but it remains quite functional with a short and long lap pool and a diving pool. Parking in the facility itself is limited but HDB parking provides more parking areas. Swimsafer exams are conducted here.
